Tim, I'd use a High Level gearbox and Mashima combo. I guarantee you will experience new realms of sweet running from a kitbuild!
The LMB Class M is quite rare these days, lucky you have one! When detailing make sure your photos are from the era you are modeling as all these little gems were changed over the years.
